๐Ÿ”’ SAFETY & PRIVACY

Built for kids. Run by parents. Private by design.

LifeReps isn't an open chatbot your child types into. It's a practice system we built for one job: helping kids rehearse everyday conversations, with you in charge of the account and very little information kept about your child.

WHY THIS ISN'T JUST "AN AI APP"

A general chatbot will talk about anything. LifeReps practices one conversation at a time.

Both use AI. The difference is everything we built around it: what the AI is allowed to do, who can reach it, how long a call lasts, and what's kept afterward.

What it talks aboutGeneral AI chatbot:Anything anyone types or says.LifeReps:One practice Situation we designed, like asking a teacher about a grade. The character stays in that role and steers back if the talk wanders.
Who can reach itGeneral AI chatbot:Anyone with the app or website.LifeReps:Only your child, through your account. Calls work only from phone numbers you've added, or your signed-in browser.
What your child doesGeneral AI chatbot:Types or asks whatever they want.LifeReps:Picks a Situation and talks. No typing, no open-ended prompts.
Personal detailsGeneral AI chatbot:Varies by app.LifeReps:Characters are told never to ask for a phone number, address, email or birthday, and not to repeat real details a child shares.
How long it runsGeneral AI chatbot:As long as someone keeps going.LifeReps:Every call ends automatically by 10 minutes. Feedback is ready shortly after.
What's keptGeneral AI chatbot:Often the full chat history.LifeReps:No audio, ever. The transcript is deleted once feedback is written. We keep skill ratings and short feedback.
If something serious comes upGeneral AI chatbot:Depends on the app.LifeReps:The practice pauses, your child is pointed to a trusted adult and help resources, and you get an email.
What parents seeGeneral AI chatbot:Usually nothing, or every word.LifeReps:Feedback on the same five skills after every Rep, plus a weekly progress email. Nothing to listen to or read through.

FOLLOW ONE REP

What happens to your child's words, start to finish.

  1. BEFORE ANY CALL

    You set it up

    • You create the account and confirm your email.
    • You add your child by nickname and give permission.
    • You add the phone numbers allowed to call.
  2. DURING THE CALL

    Practice, not recording

    • Your child's voice is processed live so the character can reply.
    • The character knows only the nickname and the level.
    • Nothing is recorded. The call ends by 10 minutes.
  3. RIGHT AFTER

    Feedback, then delete

    • A text transcript is used to rate the five skills and write short feedback.
    • Then the transcript is deleted, usually within the hour.
  4. AFTERWARD

    You see progress

    • You and your child see the ratings and feedback.
    • You get a weekly progress email.
    • You can download or delete it anytime.

NEVER KEPT

Call audio

LifeReps doesn't record calls. Our voice provider is set not to record them or keep transcripts.

DELETED WITHIN ABOUT AN HOUR

The call transcript

Used only to write feedback. An automatic cleanup removes any left over.

KEPT UNTIL YOU DELETE IT

Skill ratings and short feedback

So you can both see progress over time.

WHAT WE KEEP, AND WHY

Everything we collect fits on one table.

We collect only what LifeReps needs to run practice and show progress. Your child is known by a nickname.

THE RULES EVERY CHARACTER FOLLOWS

Written into every practice partner, every call.

  • Stays in its role

A teacher, a coach, a server. It isn't a general assistant and won't wander into other topics.

  • Never asks for personal information

No phone numbers, addresses, emails or birthdays. If a child shares real details, the character doesn't repeat them and goes back to the practice details.

  • Always respectful

Never rude or sarcastic, even if a child is. It stays calm and keeps things kind.

  • Lets your child lead

No scripts and no doing it for them. That's how the practice builds real skills.

  • Ends on time

Every call ends automatically by 10 minutes.

IF SOMETHING SERIOUS COMES UP

Three layers of protection.

  1. During the call

If your child says something that sounds serious, the character pauses the practice, encourages them to talk to a trusted adult, and shares help resources.

  2. After the call

A separate safety check reviews every Rep and can flag a concern even if the moment was brief.

  3. You're told, and we review it

When a Rep is flagged, we email you and LifeReps reviews it.

We'll be straight with you: no safeguard is perfect. LifeReps is a practice tool, not counseling or an emergency service. If anyone is in danger, call 911. For a mental-health crisis in the US, call or text 988.

BEHIND THE SCENES

How we protect it.

We keep a written security program and a written data-retention policy, and review both at least once a year.

Families are walled off

Each family sees only its own children. That's enforced by the database itself, not just the app.

Encrypted

Information is encrypted on its way to us, and stored data is encrypted by our hosting provider.

Limited staff access

Only an admin role can see account data, and every admin change is logged.

Told if something goes wrong

If a security incident affects your information, we'll investigate, fix it, and notify you as the law requires.

WHAT LIFEREPS IS NOT

No surprises.

Not a social app

No strangers, no messaging, no public posts, no leaderboards. Kids never see other families.

Not selling anything to your kids

No ads, and kids can't buy anything. Rewards are ones you create and approve.

Not therapy

LifeReps is skill practice for everyday kids. It isn't counseling, medical advice or an emergency service.

In an emergency: call 911.

Mental-health crisis (US): call or text 988.

QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK

The questions we'd ask too.

What is 'your best line'?

After each Rep, your child can see one sentence they said well, word for word. It's the only part of the call we keep, and only if you allow it. We never save a line with names, phone numbers or personal details, and you can turn it off anytime in Account โ†’ Privacy & data, which deletes the saved lines.

Is this just ChatGPT with a voice?

No. LifeReps uses AI models, but your child never gets an open chat. We design every Situation, the character is limited to that one role, there's no typing, calls end by 10 minutes, and the feedback measures the same five skills every time so you can see real progress. A general chatbot does none of that on its own.

Does LifeReps record my child?

No. We never record calls, and LifeReps never stores audio. The written transcript is used only to create feedback, then permanently deleted, usually within the hour. We keep the skill ratings and written feedback so you can see progress.

Is my child's information used to train AI?

LifeReps doesn't use your child's conversations to train AI models. The companies that help us run calls and feedback may use your child's information only to provide their service to LifeReps, not for their own purposes.

What if my child shares their real name, school or address?

The character is told not to ask for personal details and not to repeat any your child shares. It goes back to the practice details, which are made up. The transcript that contains what was said is deleted once feedback is ready.

Can my child talk to the AI about anything?

No. Each call is one practice Situation. If your child brings up something unrelated, the character answers briefly the way that person would and returns to the conversation at hand. It won't act as a general assistant.

Who can see my child's feedback?

You and your child, in your account. Each family can see only its own information, and staff access is limited to an admin role with every change logged.

Can someone else call in as my child?

Calls only work from phone numbers you've added to your account, or from your signed-in browser. A call from any other number can't start a Rep.

How do I delete everything?

Go to Account โ†’ Privacy & data to download your data, delete your whole account, or turn off permission. To delete a child, go to Account โ†’ Children โ†’ Remove child. Deleting removes it from our active systems right away. Payment records stay with Stripe as the law requires.
